Restore is a multi-faceted project that combines the areas of microfinance, women’s empowerment, recycling and community outreach. It is represented through eco-stores in the communities in which we work. These are social spaces where the community members can interact, obtain information and purchase locally-produced products. Restore is a key interface that EduCARE uses in the development of its relationship with those communities.
Restore makes eco-products which promotes healthy and sustainable living, available to the community at low prices. These include organically-grown foodstuffs, fresh fruit juices, herbal teas and homemade soaps. Since these products are not widely available in these communities, this empowers the local community to make more informed decisions about the type of products they produce, purchase and consume. It is also used as a platform to provide information on the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling; EduCARE’s various healthcare initiatives; relevant health insurance products; and EduCARE’s Eco-Volunteer Travel enterprise.
