Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh is a state in Northern India, located in the Himalayas. It consists of 12 districts with Shimla being the state capital. Mountainous and forested, Himachal Pradesh is famous for its natural beauty. With a total population of around 7 million people, people mostly rely on tourism and agriculture for income. 

EduCARE’s work centres are located in the city of Kangra, while the closest district headquarters to us are located in Dharamshala.  Dharamshala is one of India’s most popular hill stations and is also home to His Holiness the XI Dalai Lama. Thus, it has been a haven for both Tibetan refugees and foreign Buddhists since the 1960s. Today, its unique culture and wonderful views attract tens of thousands of foreign and local tourists each year.

Also, there are many villages that are nestled in the Himalayan foothills near Dharamshala. They are particularly tranquil and peaceful and there are a number of pleasant and safe forest walks which connect to the nearby towns, villages, rivers, and meditation centres. In these hills of Himachal Pradesh, there is still traditional small and subsistence farming and people living in stone and mud houses.

EduCARE centers in Himachal Pradesh

EduCARE currently has its regional office and facilities situated in Kangra, opposite the Maple Leaf Hospital in the Mission Hill Complex. There are also local offices/workspaces in Dharamshala and in other areas of the district.

Kangra – Mission Hill Complex

EduCARE facilities are set up across Maple Leaf Hospital in a large natural picturesque site overlooking Kangra valley and wide view of the Dhauladhar mountains. Along with its office and training halls, the site has single room accommodations, training halls, a kitchen, a dining hall, and cafeteria. Under-development is an art and craft workshop and herbal and botanical garden.

Dharamshala Centre

Dharamshala is situated in the Himalayas, about 4500 feet above sea level. It is 15 km from the airport, and near the city market, next to the district administration centre.

Naddi / McLeod Ganj Centre

A quaint site located at about 7000 feet above sea level, it is 3 km from Mcleod Ganj square, near the home of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
